Hypra vs Lummi: An honest comparison.

Lummi is a freemium AI stock marketplace built on community contributors, now part of Udemy, with Pro at $10 to $15 per month. Hypra is a tightly art-directed library of rotating series with recoloring built in, from $9 per month, plus a one-time $750 Lifetime license. If you want a free tier and a broad feed, Lummi is a fine pick. If you want imagery that behaves like one coherent brand system, Hypra is built for exactly that.

A marketplace and a studio

Lummi grew out of a simple promise: AI stock images that do not look like stock, contributed by a community of AI artists and served through a slick, freemium library. It worked. Lummi built real reach, shipped genuinely useful tools, and was acquired by Udemy in June 2025. Today it behaves like a marketplace: a wide feed of individual images from many hands, most of it browsable for free.

Hypra is the other model: a studio. Every image is produced under one art direction, inside a series with its own palette, light and mood, and series rotate on a limited window, usually 3 to 12 months. The wide feed is exactly what we chose not to build. When you need fifteen visuals that read as one campaign, a series hands you that coherence out of the box; a feed, however good its single images, makes you assemble it yourself.

One detail worth knowing when you compare catalog size: Lummi's own pages currently state two very different numbers, 16,000+ images on their About page and nearly 100,000 on their comparison blog. We link both below so you can check.

Licensing: credit where it is due

Lummi's license is genuinely simple: free and paid downloads are royalty-free, commercial, require no attribution, and the rights are perpetual. They survive cancellation. That is a real strength and we will not pretend otherwise.

Hypra's subscription works differently: unlimited downloads and full commercial rights while your membership is active, with a clear exit built in. The $750 Lifetime license is a one-time payment that keeps every Pro benefit, on the whole library, forever. And because Hypra is not a non-exclusive marketplace, Pro and Enterprise members can request exclusivity on a specific image, which no free-tier marketplace can offer: an image anyone can download at no cost can never become only yours.

Scarcity is the quiet difference here. Hypra collections leave the platform when their window closes. A visual you build your identity on does not keep circulating to everyone, forever, for free.

See the difference yourself. The library is open.

Pricing, and where to find it

Lummi runs freemium: a free tier, then Pro at $10 per month billed annually or $15 monthly. On raw price, Lummi Pro undercuts Hypra Pro at $24 per month, and if budget is the only variable, that math favors them. Worth noting: since the Udemy acquisition, Lummi's standalone pricing page has been removed, and the numbers now live on their /pro page.

Hypra's range is published, plainly: Personal at $9 for moodboards and personal work, Pro at $24 for full catalog, commercial and client use, tools and up to 99 team seats, and Lifetime at $750, once. What the extra dollars buy over Lummi is not volume; it is the series system, the exclusivity option, the rotation, and a recoloring tool built for brand palettes rather than general edits.

Tools: two different jobs

Both platforms treat tools as part of the product, and Lummi's set is broad: reframe, restyle, background removal, upscaling, monthly AI credits, and integrations. If you want a general-purpose editing layer over a stock feed, it is well built.

Hypra's tools chase one job: making a curated image yours. Hypracolor shifts any visual toward the exact tone you need, like colored light, so a series lands in your palette in seconds. Exact color search finds imagery by the color you are actually designing with. Ask Arpy, in beta, turns a plain-language brief into a selection from the library. Broad toolkit versus brand-focused toolkit: which one you need depends on the job.

Recolor any visual to your exact brand tone, in seconds.
